The Hot Mamas Stroller Conditioning 2012 season is about to begin! Classes will begin on Tuesday, May 1st. Check our online schedule to learn more.

Class Description

This is the famous Hot Mamas Stroller Conditioning class you’ve heard all about (and probably seen us in parks around town). Full of leg work, core strengthening, some plyometrics, upper body strengthening, balance, agility, flexibility — all with a woman’s physique in mind (long, lithe, supple muscles). This is a vigorous class – intended to work you head to toe, with a focus on all the areas that woman worry about (saddlebags, & muffin tops, anyone?) We will help you get your body back (and probably even better than before!).  If you are a brand new mom, or haven’t worked out in a while, don’t worry. Our classes cater to all fitness levels. Everything can be modified to suit your needs.

Stroller Class Q&As

Q: What is “Stroller Conditioning”?

A: A total body workout designed to whip your post-partum body back into shape. You can do the class with or without your child/children and accompanying stroller.

Q: How are Hot Mamas Stroller Conditioning Classes different from all the others I’ve heard about?

A: To begin, our classes are all about you, the mom. We treat our classes as a special time for you to focus on yourself while enjoying the benefit of not having to find childcare. Our classes are much more challenging than others, and as a result, much more effective. And lastly, our Hot Mamas stick with our classes — some have been with us for years.

Q: When can I start?

A: Once you have your Dr.’s OK to exercise and you are ready to commit to fitness.

Q: How do I join the Hot Mamas?

A: It’s very easy, just check the schedule and sign-up for class. Please try to arrive 10 minutes prior class time. Click here for class schedules.

Q: When are classes held?

A: Our classes are held from early April until late October. However you should always check our online class schedule and make sure to sign up for class before heading to the park. You should also follow us on Twitter and we’ll let you know of any class changes or specials.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A:

  • Workout gear;
  • Child + stroller (or no child and no stroller if you’d like).
  • Plenty of water.
  • Sunscreen.
  • Beach towel or yoga mat.
  • A snack for after class (for you and your child!).

Q: What if I am really out of shape?

A: Our teachers are all nationally certified & experienced and can offer any modifications if necessary. You are never too out of shape to come to Hot Mamas! It is a good idea, though to make sure you have at least been walking at a brisk pace for at least 30 minutes/day for a couple weeks prior to coming to class.

Q: Do I have to have a special stroller?

A: No. It just needs to be secure for your baby and provide protection from the elements.

Q: What if my baby starts crying or wants to get out?

A: First of all, we’ve all been there – do what you feel is best. Some moms take the baby out, offer a pacifier or a toy. Toddlers respond well to snacks and bribery (we do prefer they stay in the stroller for their protection).

Please keep in mind that your instructor can not watch your child – but is always happy to assist you if needed.

Q: What if I have a past injury or condition?

A: First check with your physician, then advise your instructor and she will give you the proper modifications.

Q: What happens during class?

A: We run and jump, do lots of leg work, upper body strengthening, abs and functional exercises. We sweat a lot but we’re smiling.

Q: How often should I attend class?

A: Twice a week or more would be great – if you want to see results, you need to show up consistently.

Q: What should I wear?

A: A supportive bra and layers that you can shed as the class progresses. And relatively new sneakers.  Sunglasses, hat and sunscreen.
